Craving French Fries?! Here's an healthier version!
French Fries is probably my favorite junk food item and it's probably also one of your favorites 🙂 But hey when you're trying to shred some inches around the waste they're not your best option. But don't worry! I have the solution for you : "Healthy Oven-Baked Sweet Potato Fries" ! Why are they healthier? Well first of all they're oven baked, so you're taking out a lot of fat. Second of all, you'll be using extra virgin coconut which contains medium-chains fats which are metabolized easier, that means that you have less chance to store that kind of fat on your thighs. Thirdly, you'll be using sweet potatoes instead of regular potatoes. These have a lower glysemic index and countains more fibers so they'll keep you full longer and won't tell your body to enter the "fat storing mode". And finally, we'll add some metabolism booster spices to give you energy!
"Oven-Baked Sweet Potato Fries" Recipe
This this recipe makes 1 portions of 275 calories. You can double the recipe if you wish.
Ingredients for the Sweet Potato Fries :
- 1 large yam (sweet potato)
- 1 tablespoon of extra virgin coconut oil (or use olive oil)
- Smoked paprika
- cayenne pepper (optional)
- Salt & pepper to taste
Preparation for the Sweet Potato Fries :
1. Pre-heat the oven at 450 and peel the sweet potato and cut it into sticks;
2. Warm up the coconut oil until it's liquid (30 sec in the microwave should do);
3. Put the sweet potatoes in a bowl and toss them with the oil and the spices;
4. Lay the sweet potatoes on a sheet tray with a parchment (you can also use aluminium paper);
5. Put in the oven for 20 minutes.
6. Let it cool down and serve!
